The Big Lake Varsity soccer team wins their first conference game of the season and holds a 5-1-0 record with a total of 15 goals scored and 4 goals against. Of those 15 goals, Reagan Sternquist had her first ‘hat trick’ of the season against Princeton. The first goal came at the 13-minute mark from a pass from Mya Turner. The second goal was a penalty kick in the box. Sternquist sends a pass through to Jade Flavin, who has a breakaway towards goal. The Princeton goal keeper slide tackles Flavin in the box, and the whistle is blown for a penalty kick. Reagan steps up to take the kick and it sends low to the far-right corner. Sternquist’s third goal came within the first 14 minutes of the second half that started from defender, Aubrey Barthel’s pass up field to Ava Vizenor. Vizenor pokes the ball out of pressure for Sternquist to score. The rest of the half was a physical game as Big Lake battled to keep their shutout. However, Princeton’s lone goal was scored off a breakaway with 5 minutes remaining of the second half. Youtube link for highlight video: https://youtu.be/8AaVYRYOelM
