After a 0-0 draw in the first half, the Hornets scored first from a penalty kick by Reagan Sternquist. The physical game from the Blue Jackets led to Mya Turner getting fouled for a free kick on the sideline outside of the penalty area. Aubrey Barthel took the kick to send the ball into the box to Kadyn Dilger. The Blue Jacket defender fouled Kadyn which resulted in the Penalty Kick, bringing the Hornets to a 1-0 lead in the second half. However, the Blue Jackets answered back with 15 minutes left of the game, tying it 1-1; then taking the lead 3 minutes later. The score was 2-1, Jackets, but the Hornets were not giving up as Kadyn Dilger’s goal, assisted by Ava Vizenor, tied the game 2-2. Big Lake was awarded another free kick on the sideline outside of the penalty area and Barthel took the kick. The ball was deflected off of Vizenor’s head to Dilger’s knee, tying the score with 6 minutes left. Big Lake’s defense fought hard to keep the ball out of their defensive end, but couldn’t hold on as Cambridge-Isanti scored their third goal with a minute and half left. Big Lake’s attack tired to answer back, but there wasn’t enough time left and the game ended, making this their 5th loss of the season and 4th conference game loss.
