Boys Varsity Cross Country, Girls Varsity Cross Country · Girls XC Team Ends Season with Fast Times

The Girls Cross-Country Team competed against the other 16 teams in Section 7AA on a chilly and windy afternoon Thursday. The girls were the last race of the day that saw 4-4 team mini meets take place. In the end, all the times were melded together for overall results.
We’ve been emphasizing all year to be aggressive. It’s really clicked with the girls this year and our times have been much more competitive. Josephine Lentz ran her final xc race as a Hornet to finish in 30th. Emilee Doperalski battled to the end to finish 42nd. Josephine and Emilee really led that ‘let’s move up’ mentality that was exhibited by much of the team. Amelia Degen, also a senior, finished 49th. Amelia was just recently added as a Mississippi 8 All-Conference runner for this season. Josie Parks was close behind in 51st. Josie is such a strong closer in races, it’s been great to see her confidence grow during the season. Grace Heider, Rylie Ostrom, and Morgan Czech finished 82, 87, 89 respectively. This trio improved quite a bit during the season. The team finished 10th overall in the section, 1 point behind Elk River. Much like the boys, our girls ran very well on this same course 2 weeks ago in near perfect conditions. It was not perfect today, it was a bit chilly, the ground was softer, and there was a much stronger wind. With all that 6 of our 7 girls ran faster today, some a lot faster. So much to look forward to with this team.
