The Hornets traveled to the Cloquet Country Club to take part in the 16 team Section 7AA Cross-Country Championships. In spite of the very cool weather, many personal bests were set at this meet. Owen Layton battled all race, nearly broke 17:00 and finished 12 overall. His place qualified him for the Minnesota State High School Cross-Country Championships next Saturday at St. Olaf College in Northfield. It is quite an accomplishment for an 8th grader. Kade Layton, who has missed several meets with an injury, was back and finished 18, only a couple spots out of the state meet berth. The boys team finished in 10th place. The girls finished in 12 place and were led by first year runner Josephine Lentz who was 34th. Amelia Degen had one of her best races and finished 57th.
